Progressive Development (PD23)

There has never been a problem with the resources, the problems lie within distribution.

While this may sound contradictory to what many would choose to believe, there are some truth in it. We don’t need rocket science to illustrate the situation. Simply look around and you will find that in certain areas of any big city, there are people and businesses who are wasting tonnes of food on a daily basis while at the other part of the same city, many could be still starving or trying hard just to make ends meet.

The problem is, this is just the tip of the iceberg. What if we explore further into areas other than food wastage, such as consumption of natural resources and allocation of manpower? Had things being optimized to its full potential or there exist loopholes draining the resources that would eventually sink the entire ship?

We only have one planet to live on and if it’s not in our good hand to secure the future for our children and generations to come, then in whose custody and responsibilities shall this be?

This is the best of time, this is the worst of time.

While it might seems that we are facing quite a number of human tragedies and planet issues, we have intentions and initiatives to resolve these challenges to bring ourselves and generations to come towards a better future.

2 Worlds

All in all, the two biggest initiatives come from both sides of the planet, one from the East and one from the West.

From the Western world, we have this Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) led by the United Nations. The Eastern world came out with Belt Road Initiatives (BRI) led by the Chinese government. While there might seems quite a different approach, the end goals are the same, which is for the betterment of the world.

So what can we do given these things happening around us and moving forward, with or without us?

3 Phases

  1. Identify SDG/BRI Aligned Opportunities
  2. Apply Social Enterprise Model
  3. Make Digital Transformation

Getting Started

Before you start, you may want to figure out the answers for these questions:

  • What are the problems you are solving?
  • How to solve the problems?
  • Who will benefit from your solution?
  • What are the anticipated outcomes?
  • What are the potential impact?
