Malaysia SDG Summit 2019 – Day 2

It was another day full of participants – day 2 of the Malaysia SDG Summit 2019.

SDG is the compelling and comprehensive response to the biggest challenge we are facing today. A complete jigsaw will solves the puzzle – government, UN, private sector, Chief Sustainable Officers (CSO), youth.

As reported by Bernama, Bank Rakyat’s Chairman Datuk Noripah Kamso said to encourage more understanding and awareness on SDGs, the bank had started to link its sustainability aspiration with all the strategies comprehensively.

β€œFor example, if we want to give out loans, we will make sure that it will not only pass through credit assessment and be shariah compliant, but also be sustainable compliant. This may take more time in terms of screening and processes but over time, we think this change is positive and good to shift the way people do business, as we want it to be more sustainable such as involving the renewable technologies and recycling activities,” she said.

Worth noting is that Datuk Noripah requested an applause from the floor for the gender equality on stage, before she started her sharing session.

Whole of Nation Approach in accelerating progress on the SDGs needs collaborative and coordinated approach among stakeholders, with the right regulatory framework and incentive mechanisms.

Even youth and children can have their own forum in this summit.

Parallel Session on Youth

Embedded below presentation slides shared by Joyline Chai during the Parallel Session on Youth.

It is how we monitor and progress along the way that counts.

Quoted from Joyline’s FB posting:

Do you know how I practice Goal 3 in SDGs? I eat catfish that big each time I am tired so that the essential nutrient in it repairs the worn out tissue in my body βœŒπŸ˜Ž

Speaking on the essential of Active Citizen Frameworks which had the inclusion of SDGs along the formulation of sustainable solution in the Youth SDG Forum during the FIRST ever Malaysia SDG Summit 2019 by United Nation Malaysia and Ministry of Economic, Malaysia.

With the theme: Accelerating Progress in SDGs: Whole of the Nation approach, we able to meet and connect to the people and network will broaden up our knowledge and wisdom.

SDGs is not a remedy but it is a progress of recovering the world at it’s best by leaving no one behind. It shares the same theory, as when you are worn out, remember the catfish repairs you in some ways it could be.

Special thanks to Nurul-Huda Mohamed Afandi who always has faith in me when it comes to elaborating SDGs and promoting Active Citizen Frameworks to the open public.

I hope the sharing did inspired you in the positive ways.

It was a successful parallel session for the youth forum, with active participation from many active citizens.

Let’s work together to make our world better by aligning to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by UN and applying the Active Citizens Framework (ACF) by JCI Malaysia.

Notes from the Youth Leaders of the Country

We, the youth and leaders of the Country, act as the active citizens dedicated to local, national and international developments.

We are ready to act together on the SDGs and commit to

  • Educate our local community on the 17 UN SDGs,
  • Promote positive actions towards SDGs in our community and nation;
  • Work towards creating more collaboration with the government agencies, private sectors and local community to produce programmes related to SDGs, and
  • Uphold the country principles of inclusivity, fairness, quality and leaving no one behind.

We are not simply beneficiaries, but real partners and active agents of change for Malaysia to be able to achieve the SDGs.

It was a great experience being part of the summit and we look forward further collaboration in the near future.
