What Could Went Wrong When Mis-communication Happens

For I experienced in two different cases years ago. I was writing an email to one of my suppliers in the UK and I ended up the email as this:

Dear Carol,
I’ve received the products yesterday and are in good condition.
TQ.

My mistake was that I didn’t put my name towards the end of the email and so they thought it was TQ (a person) who sent the email. But for me TQ means thank you. She ended up replying to the email back to me as this:

Dear TQ,
Thank you for letting us know.
Carol.

Another case when I was replying a long message to a friend in Brazil who also speaks Spanish besides his native language Portuguese. At the end of the message I typed TQ. And he replied me with a smiley icon saying in Spanish, TQ mucho tambien, which means I want (love) you so much too, in a friendly way as it’s their culture to be very affectionate.

At that point of time I knew then Te Quiero is a short abbreviation for TQ, which is totally the opposite for Malaysia which means Thank You.

I really learned a lot, the good and bad using short form of words. Some tend to feel it’s OK, some are overly sensitive, some totally ignore or can’t be bothered, some even learn something out of it or even make jokes about it as it can be very funny at times.
