For any organizational performance and success, effective problem solving and decision-making should be made a prerequisite.
Identify correctly what are the problems and be able to solve them is crucial to almost all part of the organization, such as
- market size and market share,
- sales and revenue streams,
- overhead and expenses,
- suppliers and customers,
- employee and shareholders,
- profit or loss etc
For organizations that involve direct or immediate human health or life and death matters such as hospitals, government agencies for emergency responses etc, the consequences could be dramatic if problem solving and decision-making is not being done properly.
Thus, the thinking methodology, skill sets and techniques that could be used to enhance the problem solving process should be given the priority instead of jumping direct into solving the issues without further thinking.
Unless for very crucial and time critical situation that doesn’t allow any split second delay, it is worth the investment of time and effort in solving any problem. And it all starts with identify correctly what the problem really is.
