Going digital is good but be aware of scams or virtual lies. Virtual in my own definition is something you can see, you can chat or talk with but you canβt touch and it’s from a distance.
If you are facing some of these below, ignore and block them. These are some of the hanky-panky by scammers I’ve experienced:
1. Big Money
π They offered you a big amount of money but asking you to bank in a number of payment so that big amount can be released to you
I usually tell them, I’m already rich enough (pretending), so I no longer need that big amount anymore.
2. Marriage
π They asked you to get married just after a few days knowing each other online, personally or for business purposes.
Do not fall for this. Don’t let your loneliness blind you. They’ll probably sweet talk you and ask for some money then block you off.
Usually when I encounter this by a random messages and mostly emails, I told them I’ve already got 4 husbands and 25 kids.
They no longer reply me. They must be such a fool to believe so.
3. Police Department
π They pretend to be from the police department and trying to threaten off saying that I have a big amount of payment to settle.
I simply tell them I have been admitted to the mental hospital. They can visit me if they like to get the payment.
4. Jackpot
π Once I was also told that I won a big jackpot but I have to provide them my IC number.
I told them, I don’t have an IC but I have a loyalty program card number only (A membership card that gives points for purchasing products at their merchants)
5. Car Summons
π Last year I got a call saying that I have so many car summons.
I told the scammer, I only have a helicopter. No cars at all. The scammer got mad and cursed me in a very bad word and hung up.
6. Same Phone Number
π I’ve been getting so many calls from the same number. Even after identifying them as scammers, they made a phone call to me like there’s no tomorrow.
I picked up the call and played Rock & Roll songs for them to listen. Who knows they might change their career after that. And they stopped calling me. Probably got tired singing along the songs I played for them.
7. Court Case
π A few times I was told for having a court case. And I pretended to say I’m in court now (at that moment).
The lady hung up the phone and when I tried to call back, she cancelled my call. I guess she wasn’t as brave enough to be a scammer.
React smart, react wise.
